Spring Concert

Wow! It seems that I only update my blog when VALE has something going on. I guess that's the true life of a mother, your life is defined by what your kid(s) are doing. So, tonight marks the last band concert of Vale's 3-year career. He is not sad to see it go, he was however; sad to sit through an hour and 1/2 of music in which he only played 15 minutes of. Here are the photos from the concert.

The 13th AGAIN....

Do you realize that there is another Friday the 13th this month? Vale is excited that it's Jason Vorhees birthday twice in the same year, let alone 2 months in a row. He has decided that we need to celebrate in the same fashion we did last month... going to the theatre, spend $10/each on tickets and another $10/each on snacks and watch Friday the 13th again! Last month, he just HAD to watch it and now he thinks that he will HAVE to watch it again this month.

Good thing I'm the one making the decision...

Super Bowl and Disneyland???

Although I don't celebrate, most would agree that Super Bowl Sunday is an unoffical holiday where people gather AT HOME or with friends to socialize and watch the game. Now with that thinking in mind, I thought for sure that Disneyland would be the perfect place to be on this unoffical holiday... well, I thought wrong! It wasn't packed, but there were a lot of people there--probably thinking the same thing I was.

To top everything off, Vale had been sick Thursday, Friday and Saturday. So on Sunday morning I asked him if really felt well enough to go and of course he said what every kid who loves Disneyland would say "YES". Our agreement was to get there when the park opened at 9 and head straight to the new Finding Nemo ride, since that's one of the few rides that are ALWAYS packed. We did that, the Mattahorn, Space Mountain and Vale was ready to call it a day. He was done-- and we were home by 10:30am.

So Big but still So Small

Valey Waley as he is lovingly called... but really hates when I call him that in public... has been so funny lately. He truly is growing up but is still my little boy in a lot of ways:

I was informed last Sunday that he needed a suit to wear to church. Which in itself isn't so funny BUT when he turned 12, I asked him if he wanted a suit to wear to church and he was insistent that he did NOT want a suit and that he was unhappy about having to wear a white shirt and tie. Now that his friend Nate just turned 12 and is wearing a suit to church, Vale needs to follow "suit". So last night while Vale was a scouts, I went and bought a beautiful Michael Kors suit size 20. When Vale got home he was so excited and went to try it on... can you believe that although the length was ok-- the waist was too small and he has such broad shoulders that he can only keep his arms down!! I broke the news to him that he has now entered another realm of shopping for clothes-- will have to come with me to try on suits, as Vale puts it "a fate worse than death!" Needless to say, he doesn't like shopping with his mother!!

*********************************************************

Today is Vale's 2nd or 3rd Boy/Girl school dance- which I find odd that it's on a Thursday... but ends by 5 so I won't even be there yet to pick him up (to go try on suits). He is so funny because he wants to go to the dance but insists that he doesn't dance. Then says that he only dances to the songs he likes but when I ask if he dances with girls he just gives me this look, like "Mom do you think I'm crazy?"
I remember those days, all the boys standing against the wall while the girls all gather in a group and talk and giggle. No 12 year-old boy is going to go and pull a girl out of that group! So silly!!
